One of the biggest problems with having a radiator in your bathroom that is connected to the central heating system is that the radiator is only on when your central heating system is on. That means that during the summer months you can’t have a nice warm towel when you get out of the bath.
If you want the benefit of a towel rail all year round then why not replace the radiator with an electrically heated towel rail. These towel rails work independently from your central heating system and many have a thermostat fitted as standard. This means that you can turn the towel rail on when you want and can adjust the heat accordingly. So, you can warm or dry your towels through the summer months as well as in the winter.
This type of towel rail works by using an electric element that is fitted into the rail through one of the valve entry points at the bottom of the radiator. The other entry point is sealed off using a blanking plug. The electric element heats the water in the radiator thus warming the room and the towels.
Dual use towel rails
Some towel rails can be converted to dual use. This means that you can still have the rail connected to the central heating system but it also has a heating element. This means you can use the rail as part of your central heating system in the winter but in the summer you can switch over to the electric element and still have lovely warm towels. And, hence get the best of both worlds.
